Daily Paper Opens New Flagship Store In Amsterdam

The inspiring journey continues with another chapter for Daily Paper, with the opening of a new flagship store in the heart of Amsterdam.

The next chapter for the brand is the opening of the new Amsterdam flagship store at Leidsestraat 27, a prominent shopping street located between Koningsplein and Leidseplein in the capital of the Netherlands. The street dates back to the city's major expansion in 1658.

Exterior

The building itself is a national monument from the first floor upwards. A famous 17th-century façade stone, 'De Huys Duynder Visser,' remains in place. It is a notable example of historical architectural preservation in Amsterdam and has been maintained as part of the building's heritage. Above the ground level, the façade features the brand's shield logo in a bus sign style and the full brand name when facing the store, both illuminated during the evening hours.

Store Design

Spanning two floors, visitors are welcomed by the brand's shield logo in the form of a metal door handle, creating alignment with the flagship stores in NYC and London. Visitors enter through a glass door that extends to the ceiling of the first section on the ground floor. The overall colour scheme of the store and the ceramic floor tiles is a light, warm grey, complemented by navy blue furniture. All the furniture is crafted from wood, finished with a blue two-component lacquer that reveals the wood's natural texture and grain.

In the second part of the store, a split-level accessed by a mirrored two-step staircase, you'll find the dressing room area, which features a carpeted floor, ceiling-high mirrors, and curtains that match the navy blue colour of the wooden staircase. The stairwell wall is painted in a lighter, slightly lavender blue, leading you to another floor to enjoy shopping.

Niches throughout the ground level and first floor have been designed with stainless steel clothing racks, similar to every other brand's flagship store. In these niches, clothing and accessories are perfectly displayed. The first floor features three tall windows, which are characteristic of many monumental buildings in Amsterdam. With 180 sqm of retail space, the store offers also room for potential community events and gatherings.

Daily Paper Flagship Stores

New York

In October 2020, the brand opened its inaugural New York City Flagship Store, located in Manhattan's Lower East Side. The two-story building merges Afrofuturistic aesthetics and elements of Dutch architecture for a simultaneously traditional and forward-looking venue. Unique is the store's Dutch Gable facade, which uses soda cans in a pattern evoking African beadwork.

London

On 19 June 2021, the London flagship store opened, continuing the brand's mission to cross borders and unite global communities against all odds. Situated in the diverse Soho area, the store provides the perfect environment for bringing Daily Paper's distinct Afro-centric approach to culture into the UK.
